A cat and her owner who have become a social media stars for riding bikes together were knocked to the tarmac in a crash with a moped.

Norwegian forest cat Sigrid and her owner Travis have almost 820,000 followers on TikTok and 13,500 followers on Twitter, with millions having watched GoPro videos showing Sigrid perched in a basket riding in London.

But a recent heart-stopping video shows a moment in which both are knocked to the ground at a busy junction when they are clipped by a moped.

The video, which has been watched more than 11 million times on Twitter, shows the cyclist, Travis, with his cat, Sigrid, cycling through London before reaching a red light and stopping in a cycle box.

As the lights turn green, Travis continues cycling forwards to turn right but the video appears to show a moped driving past him on the right, which clips his handlebars.

Travis falls off his bike and Sigrid tumbles out of her basket and onto the road.

Travis quickly picks up Sigrid and his bike and a plain clothes policewoman comes to check on him after pulling up in an unmarked police car.

The video shows her pointing out that he was not wearing a helmet, and recommending that he wears one in future.

It goes onto show the moped driver asking if Travis is okay and safe before he gets back on his bike and continues his cycle.

Commenters were shocked and quick to check that Sigrid the cat was unharmed.

In a TikTok caption, Travis (@sigrides on TikTok) said: “Impatient, close passing moped driver knocked us off our bike today.

@sigirides

Impatient, close passing moped driver knocked us off our bike today. Fortunately the police (?) were right behind us, so they could scold me for not wearing a helmet and then leave. First time off my bike since 2007. Sigrid is fine; my knee is messed up, can't ride for a bit. This is exactly why I don't like to stop for red lights. Inattentive or impatient motorists frequently hit cyclists when the light turns green. Note also, I was in an ASL, meant to prevent exactly this kind of negligence.

The Belsize cyclist was interviewed by the Ham&High in 2021, when his and Sigrid's internet fame was just beginning.

Travis and Sigrid have gone viral before when he passed Harry Styles on Hampstead Heath, catching it on camera.

In a video shared on Instagram, Mr Nelson pointed out how he captured As It Was singer Harry walking past along with actress Taylor Russell.

The singer’s dog Root seemed to catch the attention of Sigrid, who hissed at the canine from her basket.

Fans and residents in Hampstead might not be surprised to hear Harry was spotted in the area, given that he owns property in Hampstead.
