A woman could have “life-changing” injuries after she fell from a height over a major road.

The Metropolitan Police have issued an update following an incident on the A406 North Circular Road in East Finchley.

The road was shut westbound on Tuesday (March 21) as emergency services attended what was originally reported as a “police incident”.

A woman was said to be in a distressed condition on a bridge that goes over the A406.

Officers closed the road but a short while later the woman was seen to have fallen.

At the time, the woman, believed to be in her 60s, was in a “serious condition”.

However in a new update, Metropolitan Police have said that her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Despite this she does remain in hospital at this time and her injuries “could be life changing”.

No arrests have been made since the fall and police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

There were long delays from Colney Hatch Lane in Friern Barnet to the A1, Henly’s Corner in Finchley.
