A popular Marylebone brasserie is hoping to woo night owls with the launch of its downstairs cellar bar and cocktail menu.

Galvin Bistrot De Luxe from the Michelin-starred Galvin brothers has continued to serve up consistently delicious classic French dishes for lunch and dinner in Baker Street over the last decade.

Now it adds Le Cellar to its offering, a chic underground grotto reminiscent of an upmarket 1920s dining car, with dimmed art deco lamps, leather ‘tub’ chairs, and 19th century satirical art prints on the walls.

The new menu has been created by master cocktail maker, Giancarlo Mancino, and drinks include a Gran Milano with Nardini bitter and a Mancino Rosso with cherry bitters and a Earl Grey tea foam.

Old classics are also given new twists: the Calvados Sour is made with chamomile syrup, the Maison G&T comprises both sloe and normal gin, while the Double Bellini uses white Sicilian peach juice as well as a Prosecco peach foam.

Though the bar usually only serves up drinks, we were given a taste of the food we could have eaten upstairs with some delectable canapes of raw tuna on a bed of avocado, and a cherry tomato filled with a creamy cheese mousse.

Available for private hire, Le Cellar is a cosy new addition to Marylebone’s cocktail scene.
