Saracens Emily Scott has been called into the England women’s squad for the World Cup final to replace Danielle Waterman.

Defendinng champions England are due to meet New Zealand in Belfast on Saturday (7.45pm), with Scott having missed most of the tournament due to her own injury problems.

Head coach Simon Middleton said: ”It’s great to have Emily back in the squad. She can cover both fly-half and full back positions and has invaluable experience playing in major tournaments like the Olympics and being part of England’s Grand Slam winning campaign earlier this year.

“It was disappointing for Emily to miss out initially on the World Cup through minor injury, but she has successfully completed her rehab and is fit and ready to go.”

Scott will join clubmate Vicky Fleetwood in the squad, after the hooker returned to action in the final group game against the United States and the semi-final win over France.
