Middlesex County Cricket League - Division Three: South Hampstead (1pt) 216-5 Acton (4) 169-6

James Williams scored 92 and then took four wickets, but South Hampstead could only pick up a point from their rain-affected trip to Acton in Division Three of the Middlesex County League.

Williams enjoyed a 171-run second-wicket partnership with Algie Corbin (75), while Sam Bardon (18 not out) and Alex Ranger (10no) added runs at the tail end as SH declared on 216-5 after 45 overs.

However, the match was reduced and Acton were only required to reach 164 from 34 overs to secure the winning draw.

Williams recorded figures of 4-58, while Karthik Jagannathan took 2-32, but Acton reached 169-6 and secured the four points.

Meanwhile, Hampstead’s Premier Division clash with Winchmore Hill was abandoned due to the weather, leaving the two teams with a point apiece.

Hampstead asked their hosts to bat and former Middlesex man Scott Newman notched an unbeaten 139 as Winchmore Hill reached 202-3 from 42 overs, but the match was then ended by the weather.

That ended second-placed Hampstead’s three-match winning run – and their frustrations were exacerbated by the fact that league leaders Ealing managed to beat Finchley, despite the conditions, and extend their lead to 12 points.

There was better news for Hampstead on Sunday as they beat Richmond by 128 runs in the second round of the Conference Cup.

Ragheb Aga hit 131 off 94 balls and George Leadbetter notched 68 not out, while Liam Hughes contributed 44 as Hampstead posted 303-5 from 45 overs.

Leo Nelson-Jones (2-9), Chris Beaumont-Dark (2-26) and Graham Clark (2-57) took two wickets apiece to skittle Richmond for 175.
