UCS Old Boys remain inside the bottom two places in Herts/Middlesex Division One after a 46-7 home defeat to London Welsh Druids on Saturday condemned them to their fourth successive defeat.
UCS were only six points behind at the break but the game then got away from them and their 82-5 victory over basement boys Hillingdon Abbots in their opening fixture now seems a long time ago.
The Old Boys’ line-up included a number of debutants at the weekend and they started brightly, but they struggled at the scrum and conceded two tries and a penalty, falling 13-0 behind.
The hosts responded well and quick thinking from veteran Matt Jacobs took him over the whitewash following a penalty, while Nathaniel Breakwell added the extras, narrowing the gap to 13-7.
But London Welsh moved up a gear after the interval and were soon scoring at will, eventually racking up nearly 50 points.
