UCS Old Boys were unable to repeat their opening-day home win over Wasps in London North-West Division Three as a disappointing first-half performance resulted in a 19-8 defeat away at Fullerians in Watford.
Rory Gibson kicked an early penalty to give UCS the lead, but they then conceded two converted tries and went into the interval 14-3 down.
The Old Boys’ scrum was one of the bright spots and that resulted in a try for Damir Jovanovic, which narrowed the gap to six points.
But they never really threatened again and Fullerians touched down for a third time, while it took a brilliant tackle from Tom Loughnan to deny them a late bonus-point score.
