UCS Old Boys capped a terrific debut season in the Chess Valley league by gaining promotion to Division Five courtesy of a sevenwicket victory over Ley Hill.
Batting first Ley Hill looked in serious trouble at 58-5, but were rescued with an unbeaten 65 from Ford. However, the final total of 187-7 off 45 overs still looked well below par thanks to a disciplined bowling performance from the entire UCS attack
In reply, UCS got off to a slow start but Paul Durban (56) and Joe Craig (39) helped build a platform with an opening partnership of 71, which enabled Dan Stewart (43 not out) and Greg Morris (29 no) to accelerate towards the end of the innings and clinch victory with four overs to spare.
UCS had earlier this month won all five of their games while on tour in Devon and Somerset.
