Lilly Hunt scored four tries as Hampstead Ladies triumphed 33-7 away at Ashford and climbed to third place in Women’s Championship South East Division Two.

Playing at full-back, Hunt finished off a fine team move to open the scoring after an error-strewn opening quarter of the match, and she then took advantage of a two-on-one situation alongside Mel Wright to touch down again and give the visitors a 14-0 half-time lead.

Good work from the forwards gave Hunt the chance to complete her hat-trick and, although Ashford scored a converted try of their own, Micha Palmer went over the line before Hunt added to her haul this season with number four.

Captain Fran Hall, whose kicking game was instrumental in Hampstead’s victory, converted four of the five scores and was given the back of the match award, while the ferocious Kiki Oyemhen, who ran some amazing lines with ball in hand, took the forward of the match accolade.

Hall said: “We played our game this week, working as a team completely. The forwards were fantastic and really stepped it up in the scrums, making life easy for our amazing runners in the backs.

“We’ve been able to keep up our development plan this week, bringing a handful of players up from the second team and they slotted in brilliantly, showing the depth we have throughout the two squads.”
