Billy Vunipola’s comeback from injury is complete after he was named on the bench for England in the Calcutta Cup match against Scotland at Twickenham.

The Saracens forward had been out with a knee injnury since November but defied the doctors by returning to action against Newcastle Falcons last weekend, a full three weeks ahead of schedule.

And after a solid 72 minutes at Kingston Park, England head coach Eddie Jones had seen enough to draft him back into the squad.

He will be alongside Saracens team mates Jamie George and brother Mako, with Owen Farrell and Maro Itoje the two starters from the Allianz Park-based club.

Jones has made three changes in total to the starting XV from the side that beat Italy two weeks ago.

In come Jonathan Joseph, Jack Nowell and Ben Youngs.

“Our preparation for Scotland has been very good,” said Jones. “We had two excellent training runs in Oxford last week and followed that up this week.

“We’re focused on ourselves; we want to give our fans a really good performance. We’ve worked hard in this RBS 6 Nations and feel like a good performance is just around the corner.”
