DWAIN Bromfield produced two excellent displays for Highgate Harriers in the final London Inter-Club Challenge of the season at Copthall on Saturday.

Bromfield was second in the 100m in 11 seconds flat, behind Shaftesbury's British Athletics League competitor, Leeven Yearwood (10.76). Bromfield went on to win the 100m B race in 22.76.

Dale Bickham's best 5000m of the season was enough to win him that event in 15:35.75, and Highgate's Stephen Whiting was third in 16:15.48. Also running were Jon Gardner (fifth in 18:07.34) and Richard Stewart (sixth in 18:31.71).

Highgate's 17-year-old two-lap runner William Laing ran 52.72 for third in the 200m and was fourth in a 200m race in 24.48.

Rising star Oscar Piotrowicz added to his growing reputation with a new PB of 28.12 metres in the discus and hurled the hammer out to 36.85m.

Heathside were also represented at the event, with Uzzy Onuba recording 11.85 in the 100m, followed by Jean-Paul Hazely (11.91), Mohamed Mohamed (12.34), Eden Confino (12.44) and Emmanuel Adesina (14.28).

The same five runners all also took part in the 200m, while Lemmon was third in the 1500m in 4:34.50, and Tony Archdeacon (64.49) was sixth in the 400m hurdles.

And elsewhere, Heathside were undone by the elements for the second week running, as strong winds hampered runners up and down the country.

In the 5k road race in Hyde Park, Paul Lemmon was the first Heathsider to cross the line, finishing fourth overall with a time of 16 minutes 35 seconds.

Martin Potter was close behind in fifth (16.36), and Tony Killilea (15.56) completed the first three Heathsiders home in 18th.
