Park View Rangers have won the Echo League Divisional trophy for the third consecutive year, with Samuel Bohorquez’s penalty securing a 1-0 victory over Victoria Park in the final.
It was a tight game with very few clear-cut chances for either side, and Gabriel Weidner’s authoritative marshalling of the Rangers back line earned him the man of the match award.
The decisive goal came in the first half as Jonah Brown burst into the box before being brought down for an obvious penalty – and Bohorquez gave the Victoria keeper no chance with a powerful and accurate spot-kick.
Park View went on to dominate possession in the second period, with Kaiyan Decordova-James an influential figure in midfield, but chances continued to be hard to come by and, although Micah Greenaway and Reon Reid worked hard up front, they were unable to score a second goal and give Rangers a cushion.
Victoria had a chance to equalise in the final moments but the shot flew over the bar and the final whistle was greeted with relief, satisfaction and joy for Rangers’ players and supporters.
