New Zealand paceman Mitchell McClenaghan will return to Lord’s this summer to play Twenty20 cricket for Middlesex alongside fellow Kiwi Brendon McCullum.
McClenaghan briefly featured for the Lord’s side in last year’s NatWest T20 Blast, taking eight wickets in four matches, and will be available for at least 12 games in the 2016 tournament.
The 29-year-old left-armer could also play in the four-day and 50-over formats next season – although that depends on Middlesex’s agreement with a third overseas signing, due to be confirmed shortly.
Middlesex’s managing director of cricket Angus Fraser said: “Mitchell gets modern limited-over cricket – its mood, its uncertainty, its ups and downs and the fact a bowler needs to be deliberately unpredictable.
“He has the skills and mindset to be constantly competitive in these forms of the game. Mitchell makes things happen when he bowls and has an outstanding record.”
