Belsize Park cyclist Justin McKie finished fifth in the men’s 40-49 age group race at the International Cycling Federation Road World Championships in Belgium last weekend.
The event took place in and around the city of Borgloon and attracted some of the best amateur cyclists from across the globe.
McKie competed in the 40-49 age group race, which featured an 82k route through villages and country lanes.
And the Belsize Park resident enjoyed the experience of competing in Belgium at the ICF Road World Championships.
“It was my first-time racing in Belgium, but they local community were incredibly welcoming,” he said.
“It took me some time to get used to the physical nature of racing; you had to fight tooth and nail for position during the whole race.
“I was pleased to finish fifth, but my focus continues to be winning the World Masters Track title in Los Angeles in October.”
McKie races for Torq Performance Cycling and is the current UK and European Veteran track cycling champion.
