Betfred League One: London Skolars 76 West Wales Raiders 8

London Skolars recorded their largest-ever victory since joining the professional ranks with nine different try scorers in a 76-8 win at home to West Wales Warriors in Betfred League One.

Neil Thorman also set a club record in the thumping victory, kicking twelve conversions.

The game was delayed after the Raiders were stuck in traffic and Skolars took control early on, racking up five tries in the first quarter of the game.

Will Martin went over on the left flank after just two minutes and the hosts scored down the same wing soon afterwards when Jake Melling sliced through the defence on the left to score.

Melling then broke down the right, passing out to Vinny Finigan to make sure of the try.

From the next set, Martin released Jacob Ogden to touchdown in the left corner and Skolars’ fifth try saw Elliot Hall break the first line of defence, swerving to draw in the full-back, and offloading for Billy Driver to score.

A rare Raiders’ attack was stopped when Finigan stretched out to intercept a pass close to the line and Lamont Bryan powered over at the other end soon afterwards.

West Wales got onto the scoreboard just before half-time through Harrison Elliott, but the second half saw Skolars dominate again, Sam Nash racing over on the left to score.

The Raiders were hampered further when Morgan Evans was red-carded for a high tackle on Jy-Mel Coleman.

There was no stopping Eddie Mbaraga from close range, then Melling finished off a Hall break for his second try.

Nash also completed his brace, slipping past the defence with ease, before Quinn Ngawati scored his first try for the club, finishing off a quick series of passes to the left.

Skolars beat their previous record score when Finigan went over for his second.

Both sides were reduced to eleven players after two fights in rapid succession.

Finigan completed his hat-trick though Thorman missed a conversion for the first time in the afternoon.

Raiders again finished the half with a try, Shaun Tennant following up a high kick scoring just before the hooter sounded.
