Promoted Belsize Park continued their dominant early-season form in London North-West Division Three, following last weekend’s opening-day triumph by running in seven tries against Finchley – including another hat-trick.

BP, who are playing in the London leagues for the first time, won 41-10 away at Grasshoppers in their opening fixture last weekend, with Tristan Smith scoring three of their five tries.

And, when Belsize hosted Finchley in Regent’s Park on Saturday, Nick Lewis ran in a treble while George Hazlett, Danny Steadman, Will Allen and Seb Dunnett also crossed the whitewash in a similarly comprehensive 42-5 win.

First-team captain Tom House said: “The men are getting better every week. We are thrilled with another comfortable result, with seven changes made since the Grasshoppers game.

“We are looking to get some more continuity in selection so we can tighten a few areas up and improve our strike-rate.”

He added: “We put out six teams this weekend, five of which won. Not many clubs have that kind of depth to draw from.”

Hazlett got the opening try after just five minutes and Lewis followed suit with his first score of the day before hooker Steadman crashed over.

The hosts touched down for a fourth time as Rob Hooper created an overlap and found Lewis, who doubled his personal tally.

The visitors managed a score of their own before half-time but BP were well on top again after the interval.

Richard Wilson kicked a penalty and Finchley were then reduced to 14 men with 20 minutes left as they suffered an injury, having used all of their replacements.

Belsize took advantage as Allen touched down, and Steadman set up Lewis for his hat-trick before Alex Lee and Steadman combined to find Dunnett, who scored his second try in as many games.

One of his victims suffered a twisted ankle, which would have left Finchley with 13 men, so BP agreed to end the game early.

Meanwhile, BP’s second string beat Datchworth’s reserves 58-5. Julien Hoefflin scored a hat-trick and Steff Cook, Brad Stuart and Chris Perkins all touched down twice, while Alastair Monty also crossed the try-line.

Belsize’s third team were leading 7-3 against Bank of England before an opposing player was badly injured and the game was abandoned. The club send their best wishes.

The fourth team beat Old Millhillians’ second string 58-5 and the Bulls overcame Wasps Veterans 49-26 but the Bulls 2s were beaten 39-33 by Southwark’s third side.
