Camden Knights slipped to a narrow defeat against relegation rivals Hackney White Heat on Saturday.

The Knights, who won the London Metropolitan Premier Division last season, were beaten after failing to take their own opportunities in the dying stages.

"We were unlucky because that's the second game we've lost by a couple of points," said coach Max Gvozdenovic.

"It could have gone either way - it was basket for basket and we were equal with a minute to go.

"It reminded me of a game we had against Omega when we should have won, but we didn't score for the last seven minutes of the game."

The Knights had hoped to build on the 64-56 win they achieved in their previous fixture against Wandsworth Lions.

But defeat means they have triumphed in just two out of eight league games this season and lie second from bottom in the relegation zone.

Gvozdenovic says that's because they are missing their best players from last season - Paul Yaseem, a 6ft 6inch centre, who left the club to join the Rocco Riders, Spaso Jermarcinko, a point-guard who is suspended, and David Odzakovic, a power forward who is due to return from an injured ankle in the coming weeks.

The Knights will be hoping to turn their season around on Sunday when they travel to Hoxton Heat.
