The focus is on the all-weather this week as the cold snap wreaks havoc with jumps cards, and the best bet appears to be Miss Bunter at Wolverhampton (4.30pm) today.

The four-year-old has been in superb form of late, winning three of her last four starts and finishing second in the other when she was hampered inside the last furlong.

Those four races have all been at Wolverhampton and Miss Bunter is fancied to secure another victory for her in-form trainer David O’Meara, who won with 10 of his first 15 runners this year.

“There is a lot of racing at the moment and we have a small team of all-weather horses who are running well,” O’Meara said. “We don’t really set targets, we just try to win the next race.”

The bad weather has resulted in two additional fixtures at London’s all-weather tracks, following news of a bonus meeting at Lingfield today – where racing starts at 1pm – and at Kempton on Saturday.

In other news The New One won as predicted here last week, the victory so impressive that his Cheltenham Gold Cup and dual Grand National-winning trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies believes the five-year-old may be the best he has trained.

“He really could be the best one we’ve ever had, and he’s so relaxed,” Twiston-Davies said. “He ran four months after we put a saddle on him for the first time. As soon as we put tack on him he was going up the gallop as fast as anything else.”
