Haverstock School are ending the year on a high after the boys won the Camden Schools Sport Shield.

Haverstock won a total of 12 competitions across various sports and age groups, including a treble for the Under-14 football team, who won the London Schools Cup, the Camden & Islington District Cup and the Camden Borough Schools Cup.

Their success in the borough’s cricket competition – where all three of their teams reached their respective finals – then ensured they won the Sport Shield, beating last year’s winners William Ellis.

Haverstock’s Under-15s beat William Ellis in their cricket final, and the Under-12s overcame Regent High School, while the Under-13s lost to Regent.

Haverstock sports coach Jamie Histed said: “It’s amazing how well we have done. We would have been happy with just one award. After winning the National Cup [in the football] last year I felt it would be hard to top the achievement, but our students have really dug in deep and it has paid off.

“After winning so many competitions this year I really don’t know what is left to win. I just want to say thank you to all our students this year who have attended all the training and competitions.”

Haverstock’s girls nearly emulated the boys but finished second in their Sport Shield competition, behind Parliament Hill School.
