HARRY Willets bagged a hat-trick in West Hampstead’s resounding win over Wycombe’s second XI in their Middx, Berks, Bucks and Oxon League match at Brent Cross on Saturday.
WH were quickly ahead and kept their foot on the gas to run out convincing winners and keep their unbeaten record intact whilemaintaining their three point lead at the top of the table.
WH, who were relegated from South League Division Two last season, have totally dominated this division and have already bagged 37 league goals, while conceding just three times in six league games.
The Brent Cross outfit look unstoppable and vice-captain Tom Bullock has revealed that the early success has forced them to re-adjust their target for the season.
“Our goal at the start of the season was to just take one game at a time,” Bullock said. “But after the third or fourth game our target became a clean sweep in all competitions.
“We don’t want to drop any points – and we want to score 100 goals this season.
“I think the key [to our success this season] is that we feel strongly that we should not have been relegated.
“We have retained the core group [of players from last season] and have got back key players such as Ali Brown and Chris Allfrey and the return of those two has been good. We also have a new goalkeeper in Finn Bell and we have been much better at the back and conceding far fewer goals.
Willets got the first of his three goals in the 15th minute when he netted from open play, and the hosts doubled their lead soon after when Tom Kimberley scored after good work from skipper Jamie Dru.
The scoreline remained 2-0 at the break, but the home side extended their lead soon after when Willets banged in his second, and WH’s third from close range.
He completed the scoring for West Hampstead in the 55th minute when he broke down the right wing and drilled the ball into the left side of the net.
West Hampstead will seek to continue their unbeaten run when they visit Maidenhead on Saturday.
