It was mixed fortunes for Haringey girls’ at the London Youth Games handball finals and coach Michael Omojudi is ‘proud’ of their efforts.
Omojudi praised his side’s efforts, even though his team went crashing out in the quarter-finals, after squeezing through as runners-up of their group at the Copper Box Arena this weekend.
The side managed to beat Greenwich (3-0) and Kensington & Chelsea (8-2), but also suffered defeats to Barking and Dagenham (5-2) and Lambeth (2-1), which landed them six points and scraped them into the quarters where they lost to winners Ealing.
Omojudi said: “It was our first competition together as a team and it was the girls first time playing together.
“The girls performed so well finishing joint fifth in London, they done themselves, they family, friends, me and my head coach proud but definitely the whole of Haringey too.”
