Tom Loizou is hoping to have a fully fit squad to pick from in the not too distant future

Haringey Borough manager Tom Loizou is looking forward to this Saturday’s Bostik Premier clash with third in the table Worthing, writes George Sessions.

The Coles Park club will welcome the high-flying side to the capital eager to get back to winning ways in the division.

Borough have only played four times in the Bostik Premier this season, but have a decent record of one victory, two draws and a single loss to their name.

The West Sussex-based Rebels are still unbeaten and have won three out of four so far, but Loizou isn’t reading too much into the table just yet.

He said: “I am looking forward to Worthing at home on Saturday and hopefully we can put a strong side out and get a good result.

“It is still early days yet, I won’t really be looking at the league table much because you can’t judge a lot right now.”

Haringey look set to be without summer signing Femi Akinwande for this weekend after he picked up a hamstring injury during last Saturday’s FA Cup clash.

Unfortunately for Borough, he is one of many players due to sit out the upcoming clash at home to in-form Worthing.

Loizou added: “We are still without Jorge Sambu, Ali (Setirekli) and Femi our forward, who picked up an injury recently.

“Hopefully Femi will be back at some point next week and if not then, hopefully the week after.”

Borough managed to claim two clean sheets across a busy Bank Holiday weekend where they were in action twice.

On Saturday, they hosted Essex Senior League outfit Stanway Rovers and eventually secured a 1-0 victory to progress into the FA Cup first qualifying round.

Chinedu McKenzie come off the bench to score the winner with 69 on the clock and Haringey will be away to one of Brentwood Town on September 8.

It isn’t the only intriguing draw Haringey have been given as they could find themselves up against Leyton Orient again soon in the London Senior Cup.

Loizou said: “We have had a couple of interesting draws in the cup competitions.

“If we can get past Beckenham Town (September 18) in the London Senior Cup, we will host Leyton Orient again, so that would be good.

“And in the FA Cup we will not have too far to travel, so we have some good games coming up.”
