The Coles Park club will play in the FA Cup this weekend and then the Velocity Trophy on Tuesday

Haringey Borough will be able to renew acquaintances with two old Bostik North rivals over the next week of competitive action.

Tom Loizou’s men will first of all play in the FA Cup this Saturday, then start their Velocity Trophy campaign on Tuesday and both fixtures are against familiar clubs in the division below.

At the weekend, AFC Sudbury will visit Coles Park in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup with a staggering £15,000 up for grabs to the winner of the tie.

Then on Tuesday, Loizou will take his team to Bowers & Pitsea for a first round Trophy clash, although this will be rescheduled should Haringey and Sudbury draw and require a replay.

If a winner is found at Coles Park then days later Borough will take on a side who were a direct rival for promotion last season.

Both Haringey and Bowers got into the play-offs, but only the former qualified for the final and then went on to triumph and earn a spot in the Bostik Premier.

Even though there is a division between the teams, a close clash will be expected on Tuesday at the Len Salmon Stadium.

The most important fixture of the week is the FA Cup tie though, given the finances on offer, and so Loizou will be doing everything in his power to get the club into the fourth qualifying round for a second year in succession.

Sudbury were also in the Bostik North last season, but could only finish 12th and this time around they have struggled too.

After five matches, the Suds are 18th with only four points, but in the FA Cup they’ve impressed and they knocked out Bognor Regis Town in the previous round.

It was a fantastic result and will serve as a warning to the north Londoners, although they are not likely to be complacent.

On Monday they suffered a 2-0 reverse to lowly Harlow Town at Coles Park and it saw a five-match winning run come to an end.

After a goalless first half, the Hawks took the lead in the 73rd minute when Charlie Edwards scored from the penalty spot.

Borough did appear to level at the end of the 90, but both the referee and linesman failed to award a goal even though the ball seemed to cross the line.

Haringey’s frustration was then added to when Jason Raad hit a second to see Harlow win 2-0.

It occurred after Borough had earned a fine 1-0 victory away to Margate on Saturday thanks to Georgois Aresti’s excellent strike.

The matchwinner Aresti said: “Happy for the three points and my third goal. Thank you to our great supporters who travelled all the way to Margate.”
