From next season the two local clubs will call their respective divisions the Bostik League for sponsorship reasons

The Isthmian League, which has previously been known as the Ryman League for sponsorship reasons since 1997, will be called the Bostik League for at least the next two seasons.

Wingate & Finchley will therefore play in the Bostik Premier in the 2017/18 campaign with local outfit Haringey Borough competing in the Bostik North.

Nick Robinson, chairman of the divisions, said: “The Isthmian Football League, now entering its 113th season, has 72 clubs that rely heavily on the financial support that sponsorship generates.

“Teaming up with Bostik is certainly welcome news for everyone involved. We are delighted to be linked with such a well-known brand.”

The news that the Isthmian League would be re-branded as the Bostik League was confirmed at the divisions AGM on Saturday.

It was also revealed that Wingate and Haringey had both won Team of the Season in their respective divisions.

Wingate finished fifth with 75 points in Keith Rowland’s first full campaign in charge of the Isthmian Premier club.

Rowland, who took over in January 2016, won 23 of his 46 league games last season.

It was enough to earn Wingate a surprise spot in the play-offs, but they lost 2-1 at Bognor Regis Town.

Nevertheless, it is encouraging to see the efforts of the Summers Lane club recognised by winning the Isthmian Premier Team of the Season award.

Although surprisingly, no Wingate players were included in the Isthmian Premier Team of the Year.

It was a similar story for Haringey, who deservedly picked up the Isthmian North Team of the Season accolade.

Tom Loizou’s side came fifth and enjoyed a stunning campaign, scoring 107 goals in their 46 league games.

Haringey won on 24 occasions in the division to earn a play-off spot, but they lost a thriller at Maldon & Tiptree.

Maldon defeated the north Londoners 5-4, though Loizou’s team could be proud of their achievements.

Similarly to Wingate, however, Haringey didn’t have any players included in the Isthmian North Team of the Year despite a sensational campaign all-round.
