Hampstead & Westminster’s ladies suffered their second successive defeat in the Conference East on Saturday as league leaders Slough maintained their 100 per cent record in their opening five games with a 1-0 home win.

Slough had scored 20 goals in their opening four fixtures, averaging five goals per match, but they were made to work for their latest success.

Hampstead dominated for most of the first half, being denied a breakthrough by good goalkeeping while hitting the post.

But the hosts responded and H&W goalkeeper Roxy Gianfrancesco had to be at her best to keep the scores level at the break before Slough struck the only goal 15 minutes after the interval from a penalty corner.

Hampstead consequently dropped to fourth place in the table ahead of Saturday’s London derby against Wimbledon.
