Hampstead & Westminster are through to the semi-finals of the national EHB Cup after overcoming their nemesis Beeston on Sunday.

H&W lost the 2010 cup final and the 2011 semi-final to Beeston before being defeated in last year’s final by the same side.

However, the Londoners gained revenge at the weekend, overturning a 3-2 half-time

deficit to triumph 4-2 in Nottinghamshire.

Hampstead took the lead as the Beeston goalkeeper deflected the ball into his own net, but sloppy marking allowed the hosts to score twice.

H&W’s new Aussie import Sam Pike levelled the scores but Toby Roche was unable to clear the ball after Ian Scanlon’s double save and the home side took a 3-2 lead into the break.

The second half was a tense affair but H&W struck the crucial blow as Neil Hamilton coolly slotted home from a corner – and three minutes from time Fox drove down the right and set up Will Naylor, who hit the winner to set up a semi-final with Cannock at Paddington Recreation Ground on March 17.
