Wingate & Finchley captain Marc Weatherstone is leaving the Blues after nine years to join Ryman League Premier Division rivals Dulwich Hamlet.

Weatherstone has made 434 appearances for the club and chairman Aron Sharpe said: “Marc has been club captain and a great servant to our club.

“He has been offered a tremendous package that we could not get near. Although this was not the driver for him, we both agreed that the offer was simply too good to turn down, coupled with a new challenge for Marc at this stage of his career.”

Weatherstone said: “Wingate & Finchley is in my heart, and as I’m only 17 appearances behind [previous captain] Dan Nielsen I will be back!

“I’ve had the best nine years of my life and I will miss everyone associated with the club. The fans are one of a kind and I appreciate all their support.”
