TOTTENHAM have held provisional talks with MK Dons about using their stadium as a temporary home while they redevelop White Hart Lane, writes John Bell.

Spurs want to increase their current capacity of 36,000 to nearer 50,000, and have been weighing up whether to redevelop their existing site or move to a new area entirely.

If they choose the former option, they will need to find a new home stadium for up to a year, but the club have exhausted any possible options within the capital.

But the Milton Keynes-based club - who are based 45 miles from Spurs' current HQ - have emerged as a credible option after Spurs made contact with Dons chairman Pete Winkleman.

"If Tottenham decide to redevelop on-site it seems they will need temporary accommodation and they have had a chat with us about using our stadium," said Winkleman. "They haven't come back yet but their interest shows the progress we're making."

Stadium MK was completed last November and can hold 22,000 supporters, sufficient to accommodate all of Spurs' season ticket-holders.

But Dons officials plan to increase their capacity to 32,000 within the next year to comply with Uefa's Elite Stadium specifications.

Spurs are yet to make any official comment regarding their stadium plans, despite promising a statement earlier this year, but are understood to favour staying in Tottenham.

l Southampton have completed the signing of Tottenham's reserve goalkeeper Tommy Forecast for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old put pen to paper on a five-year deal on Monday after successfully passing a medical three days earlier.

Forecast's departure opens up the prospect of Spurs moving for another goalkeeper this summer if, as is expected, Paul Robinson leaves White Hart Lane.
