Spurs Ladies will take on Sheffield United in a 12.15 kick-off on Sunday which allows fans to make it to the first test event at the new stadium
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies will play for the first time in over a month this Sunday and will welcome the return to football matters.
Karen Hills’ side will take on Sheffield United Women at Cheshunt FC’s Theobalds Lane in a 12.15pm kick-off.
Spurs’ last action occurred all the way back on February 20 when they managed to see off Leicester City Women by a 1-0 score.
FA Women’s Championship title-chasing Tottenham had been due to visit Aston Villa Ladies on March 12, but the clash was called off after they got stuck in traffic on the M1.
It means the Lilywhites will be fresh ahead of the pivotal clash on Sunday against the eighth-placed Blades.
The fixture was originally set to start at 1pm, but the kick-off time was moved to allow fans to attend this match and the first test event at Spurs’ new stadium when the under-18s face Southampton in a game which gets underway at 3pm.
After a lengthy break, Hills will hope her girls get straight back into the swing of things before a huge clash at home to Manchester United Women on Sunday week (March 31).
Tottenham Ladies have been in the news this week after Sophie Jones was handed a five-match ban after it was proven she used abusive and/or insulting words – that included reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race – towards Renee Hector.
The incident took place on January 6 2019 in a league fixture at Sheffield United Women and Spurs’ Hector made the referee at the time aware.
After tweeting following the game about the ‘monkey noises’ she heard during the 2-1 away win, the Football Association started enquires.
Eventually it came to a conclusion on Wednesday with Jones handed a suspension of five games plus a £200 fine.
Following dialogue between the player and Sheffield United Women, the club made the decision to terminate Jones’ contract.
Jones has since announced her retirement and with the saga now over, Hector and Tottenham will relish the chance to resume their title challenge on Sunday when the Blades visit for a crucial league fixture.
