THERE is life after Berbatov and Keane and resolute Spurs fully merited their point at Chelsea on Sunday lunchtime.

Juande Ramos opted to play Didier Zokora in midfield with Chris Gunter at right back and the Ivorian turned in a man of the match performance.

But the Blues dominated the first half and could have scored three times before finally taking the lead through Juliano Belletti's fortuitous touch after Darren Bent's sliced clearance from a corner.

Earlier, Heurelho Gomes showed nimble footwork to tip over Frank Lampard's clever chip before Nicholas Anleka wasted a gilt-edged chance and Michael Essien rattled Gomes's crossbar.

Yet, there was an element of good fortune about Tottenham's equaliser on the stroke of half-time. The ball ricocheted off Lampard into the path of Bent who tucked his shot under Petr Cech.

The second half saw Spurs slowly grow in confidence despite Chelsea pushing forward in search of a second.

But with Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate outstanding in defence, Ramos used three of his young young substitutes - Tom Huddlestone, Aaron Lennon and Jamie O'Hara - to provide valuable outlets and hold on for a welcome first point of the season.
