JUANDE Ramos's struggling Tottenham side welcome the in-form Wigan to the Lane on Sunday afternoon.

Wigan have seemingly stepped up a gear since they began the season with a 2-1 loss to West Ham at Upton Park.

They had looked outclassed in the opening minutes as the Hammers attacked. But Steve Bruce's men refused to bow to the pressure and grabbed a lifeline when new boy Amr Zaki, on loan from Zamalek, scored.

The Latic's next stepped out against title-chasing Chelsea at the JJB Stadium and once again Bruce's outfit showed character to restrict the Blues to a single goal after Deco scored in the fourth minute.

Wigan followed up with the 4-0 demolition of Notts County in the Carling Cup after a brace from Henri Camara and a goal apiece from Zaki and Tomasz Kupisz.

Wigan's goal-scoring prowess was once again to the fore in their next game, a 5-0 away thumping of newly promoted Hull, with the increasingly prolific Zaki bagging another two.

An unfortunate 1-1 draw against Roy Keane's Sunderland was next. The Latics were unlucky not to come away with three points after they went behind from an early own goal before Zaki levelled in the second half.

Oliver Kapo (Birmingham £3.5m), Lee Cattermole (Middlesbrough £3.5m), and Daniel De Ridder (Birmingham free) are other new faces who will be looking to make an impact.
