Arsenal's stadiums past and present have been named among 'the seven wonders of Islington'.
While Mayor Boris Johnson was naming the Highbury Fields parkland as his borough gem in a celebrity poll conducted by the Islington Gazette newspaper, former Arsenal keeper Bob Wilson was opting for Highbury Stadium, now being turned into flats.
'I remember seeing it for the first time and being stopped in my tracks and saying ' that is not a football stadium, it is a place of worship',' he told reporter Ed Davey.
'It took up 40 of the best years of my life - I arrived in 1963 and we left in 2006. I don't think there has been another place like it.''
Meanwhile, Elaine Lordan, who shot to fame as Lynn Hobbs in EastEnders, chose the Emirates Stadium, which she described as 'quite magnificent' and 'out of this world' though watching it being built from her home nearby was 'like a nuclear disaster'.
