Bostik Premier: Enfield Town 2 Haringey Borough 2

Haringey Borough fought back from a goal down to pick up a solid point away to promotion-chasing Enfield Town in the Bostik Premier on Saturday.

After losing their last three matches in the division, Tom Loizou’s men were eager to get back on track and two goals from Rakim Richards earned a 2-2 draw.

Kick-off was delayed at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium because the officials were late in arriving, but it failed to affect the visitors.

Only four minutes were on the clock when Haringey’s Richards headed home from a corner to make it 1-0 to the Coles Park club.

Enfield responded almost immediately, however, with the dangerous Billy Bricknell finishing off an excellent team move after fine play by Aaron Greene in the 10th minute.

It seemed like it would stay all square until half time, but the hosts took the lead two minutes before the break.

Sam Youngs let fly and managed to squeeze a shot past Valery Pajetet to make it 2-1 to Enfield at half time.

Borough didn’t let the setback knock them, though, as in the 51st minute they levelled as Richards fired into the net after the home side had failed to clear a corner.

Town then had Dan Rumens sent off on the hour mark for making a foul as the last man which handed Haringey the initiative.

Loizou’s men couldn’t find a winner, however, but picked up a creditable point and it gives them a one-point cushion over the bottom three with plenty of games in hand.

Borough now turn their attention to the first round of the FA Cup with League One side AFC Wimbledon visiting Coles Park on Friday, with the tie to be broadcast live on BBC Two.

Haringey Borough: Pajetet; Olufemi, Richards, Kirby, Rowe, O’Donoghue; Djassi-Sambu, Stone, Staunton; McKenzie, Akinwande.

Unused substitutes: Byfield, Mitchell.
