A brace from Jamie O'Donoghue helped the Coles Park club claim their sixth Bostik North victory of the season

Tom Loizou praised the professional display of his Haringey Borough team after they made it six wins out of seven in the Bostik North on Saturday.

The Coles Park boss had warned his players not to underestimate struggling Soham Town Rangers and they listed to his advice.

Jamie O’Donoghue bagged a first-half brace with his second coming from the penalty spot and it helped Borough claim another good win.

Loizou said: “I was pleased with Saturday and especially given the fact I made five changes to the team.

“The players we brought in all stepped up and did a job, so it was a professional performance from us.”

Haringey are playing catch up compared to most other sides in the division and yet sit third in the table.

Only Hornchurch and Borough are still unbeaten and Loizou admits he can’t have asked for much more.

He added: “Things have gone pretty well in the league and I can’t complain. I think we have the right type of squad this season as opposed to last year because when we did get injuries we couldn’t cope.”

Attention now turns to the FA Cup for the north Londoners, although they are due to be in league action next Tuesday.

Barking will host Haringey assuming they are not taken to a replay by Bideford in the third qualifying round this Saturday.

Loizou admitted: “We don’t want to be going to Devon on a Tuesday night, so it is a case of win at all costs and then hopefully we have that Barking game next week.”

After two goals at the weekend, O’Donoghue will be looking for more of the same this Saturday at Coles Park.

The attacker has been with Haringey for a number of years, although did briefly leave the club.

But he is back now and Loizou is pleased with what he has seen, adding: “Jamie has got himself fit and is settled down in his family life now.

“He’s having another crack at it with us. He left before, but has come back and is doing well right now.”
