Bostik North: Haringey Borough 1 Witham Town 0
Haringey Borough earned a seventh consecutive win in the Bostik North with a 1-0 victory at home to Witham Town on Saturday.
Tom Loizou’s men might have won by more, but in the end Jorge Djassi-Sambu’s 72nd-minute winner was enough to earn all three points.
Borough went into the contest at Coles Park brimming with confidence and belief after a stunning run of form.
Witham initially frustrated the hosts, however, and it remained goalless at half time in front of an audience of 221.
Eventually the breakthrough was made with 18 minutes left when substitute Michael Ademiluyi dribbled past a couple of opponents and laid off for Djassi-Sambu.
The Borough midfielder, who had only netted once this season back in October away to Barking, showed great composure to trick his way past an opponent before firing home the winner.
Haringey could have added to their tally before full time, but only needed the one goal to keep alive their automatic promotion hopes.
The Coles Park club are fourth in the table on 86 points – level with third-placed Bowers & Pitsea, but the Essex club do have a game in hand.
Potters Bar Town are second with 87 points, so there is plenty to play for heading into the final game of the season.
Town and Haringey will also keep an eye on how Bowers fare on Tuesday night away to Hertford Town.
Haringey Borough: Pajetet; Olufemi, Richards, Kirby, O’Donoghue; Djassi-Sambu, Stone; Asamoah (Luke 65), Gabriel (Edwards 88), McKenzie (Ademiluyi 67), McDonald.
Unused substitutes: Byfield, Austin.
