Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists he will play a strong team against Burnley in the FA Cup.
Wenger’s men welcome the Clarets to the Emirates Stadium in the fourth round of the competition that Arsenal have won for the past two seasons.
The Gunners boss put out a weakened team against Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup this season and they were easily dispatched by the Championship side.
Wenger is determined not to make the same mistake against high-flying Burnley, who have won their past four games and five of their last six.
“I will play quite an experienced team,” Wenger said.
“First of all because we lost last Sunday against Chelsea and it’s important not to drop our confidence level. Secondly because we want to do well in the FA Cup and we don’t want to miss an opportunity at home against a Championship team.
“Unfortunately you don’t win with kids any more, even against Championship teams.”
Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez returned from injury last weekend against Chelsea. The Chilean had been out of action with a hamstring injury since November but he came off the bench in the 1-0 home defeat and looked lively.
Wenger admits he is considering playing Sanchez against Burnley but he remains concerned about the 27-year-old’s fitness.
“I am tempted,” he said. “Of course he is important but he has been out for six or seven weeks and he had a little setback.
“I will be cautious with him but you could see even when he came on against Chelsea he gave us something going forward. He is a guy who looks at you and goes for you.
“I don’t think Rosicky is fit enough [to start]. He has a chance to be in the squad. Ospina will play in goal.”
