Arsene Wenger has called on his side to forget Saturday's defeat at Sunderland - and qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League.

The Gunners face Standard Liege at Emirates tonight knowing a point will secure their place in the knockout stages.

But after that loss on Wearside, Wenger says he expects a sharp improvement.

"We had some deficiencies which we paid for - we have to make sure that is not repeated," said Wenger, who will have England U21 fullback Kieran Gibbs available again after a foot injury

"We did not produce enough in the final third, which had been our strength until now.

"We did not have the right fluency in our game, nor enough penetrative runs to force the issue in the final part of the pitch.

"We have a good opportunity to finish first in the group and qualify, then after we can think about Chelsea (on Sunday).

"The perfect way is to respond after a disappointing result, because that's where you judge a big team and that is what we want to do."

Standard coach Laszlo Boloni, whose side lost 3-2 in Belgium on Matchday One, expects another tough battle.

"Arsenal have some warriors in their team, they are not young lambs," he said.

"We will be organised and with our strength we will try to do the maximum so that they will respect us.
