Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed he is so keen for Alexandre Lacazette to play as a central striker, the former Borussia Dortmnd centre-forward is happy to move to the left flank.
In a revealing ESPN interview with Julias Laurens, the Arsenal striker admitted he’s willing to play in his less favoured position to accommodate the Frenchman.
Aubameyang has taken up the left wing role a number of times in his career, particularly in the early stages of his time at Dortmund.
Despite favouring the number nine role, the Gabon international said he’d trade his position to suit Lacazette.
“I don’t mind playing on the left if Laca is in the centre. We both want to do our best for the team.
“There is a spark between us when we are both on the pitch together.
“We look for each other, we saw it on Sunday against City when he came on.”
The duo combined a number of times in the second half in the 2-0 defeat against Manchester City on Sunday after Lacazette was introduced in the 54th minute.
The dynamic of Arsenal’s attack changed when Lacazette was introduced on Sunday, giving Emery a decision to make ahead of Saturday’s trip to Stamford Bridge.
“We still need some time to adapt to the new manager and to integrate the new players,” Aubemyang added.
“It’s hard to test ourselves in a first game like this against City because they are so strong.
“We have to stay positive, work on the things we did well and improve on the rest.
“We will have a better idea next weekend after the Chelsea game.”
