1966: Popular duo George Eastham and Joe Baker are told they can leave the club after apparently taking the blame for last week s FA Cup defeat at Blackburn Manager Billy Wright had blamed poor finishing from his attackers for the 0-3 loss at Ewood Park.

Popular duo George Eastham and Joe Baker are told they can leave the club after apparently taking the blame for last week's FA Cup defeat at Blackburn Manager Billy Wright had blamed poor finishing from his attackers for the 0-3 loss at Ewood Park.

Both slapped in transfer requests after being left out of the squad for the league match with Stoke - and the board accepted. Double the usual crowd turn up to watch Eastham play for the reserves at Highbury. The first team win 3-1 in the Potteries.
