Spurs will take on arch rivals Arsenal in the quarter-finals of the League Cup at the Emirates Stadium
Danny Rose is looking forward to doing battle with Arsenal tonight and eager to help Tottenham Hotspur remain on course for League Cup success.
The London rivals will renew acquaintances at the Emirates Stadium in the last eight of the competition with plenty at stake.
After losing 4-2 to the Gunners at the beginning of the month in the Premier League, not only do Mauricio Pochettino’s team want revenge, but they are determined to end their long wait for a trophy by progressing into the League Cup semi-finals.
“We will be looking to put the result right, but it is a quarter-final, so we don’t need much more motivation than that,” Rose said.
“It will be the first chance to win a trophy this season if we can get through and we are looking forward to it.”
Rose was introduced towards the end of the previous meeting on December 2 and so he had a good position on the bench for some of the incidents which occurred when Spurs and Arsenal went head-to-head over two weeks ago.
He saw nothing wrong with Eric Dier’s celebration, where he shushed the home fans, which saw the two sets of players come together with the substitutes also involved.
When he discussed the derby defeat, the England left-back admitted games between the clubs should be played in a similar manner to how the first clash of the season was with plenty of passion on flow – as long as both teams don’t overstep the mark.
“For me, if I was a neutral watching on the TV, that is something I would like to see as long as no one is throwing hands and assaulting each other,” Rose said, at the start of the month.
“I don’t think there was anything wrong with it. Obviously we celebrated and Arsenal got annoyed at that, but the game continued.
“We did well to go 2-1 up and we are all disappointed we didn’t win, but having been involved, that is what I want to see and I am looking forward to playing them again.”
