Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Mohamed Elneny and Alexis Sanchez could both play against Stoke on Sunday.
Arsenal travel to the Brittania Stadium days after completing their first signing of the January transfer window in Egyptian midfielder Elneny.
The 23-year-old joined the club from Basel for a fee in the region of £7.4m and could be thrown into the action in the centre of midfield this weekend.
Wenger says Elneny is completely fit and available to play but did not guarantee a start for the new signing.
“He is a young, promising player who has adapted to Europe,” the Arsenal boss said. “He didn’t come straight from Egypt to Arsenal.
“I expect him to develop with us into a very strong player.
“He is available for selection, I haven’t decided yet. Apparently we have no injuries from the Liverpool game and there’s a possibility he will be in the squad.”
Wenger also provided an update on the fitness of Alexis Sanchez, who has not played since he picked up a hamstring injury against Norwich at the end of November.
The Chilean faces a late fitness test to determine whether he will feature for the Gunners against Stoke.
“The only question mark is Sanchez,” Wenger said. “He has two decisive days.
“He is fit, he worked very hard. We have to decide whether to take a gamble on his injury.”
