Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere will remain sidelined for at least the next two or three weeks.

The midfield pair are the only long-term absentees in the Gunners squad currently, having missed large chunks of the season through injuries so far.

Cazorla suffered a knee ligament injury against Norwich in November and he has not featured since, while Wilshere has missed the entire campaign so far with a recurring ankle problem.

Neither will be fit for the top-of-the-table clash against Leicester at the weekend, but Danny Welbeck is returning to fitness and Wenger has no other serious injury problems.

“The squad looks similar to last week,” Wenger said. “There’s still 48 hours to go and two training sessions but fortunately it’s the same squad.”

“I don’t count on Cazorla or Welbeck in the next two or three weeks but everyone else will be back.

“Welbeck has done very well and he will be back soon. Fitness-wise he is there it is just competition for him. If not this week then next week [he will be back].”
