Former Birmingham striker Mauro Zarate, currently at Lazio, could be on his way to Arsenal, according to his 'representative'.
Jose Alberto Coppola told LALAZIOSIAMONOI.IT: "I am in touch with Arsenal
"A director of the English club asked me about Zarate. They are prepared to offer the €40 million that will deliver him.
"Their intention is to succeed where Manchester City has failed last year, bringing Mauro back to the Premier League."
CFR Cluj striker Lacina Traore could also be arriving too - but not until the summer.
Another shadowy 'representative' is quoted in FOURFOURTWO: "I've been in touch with one scout from Arsenal. I can confirm that it is true that they are interested in Lacina, but will not make an offer during the transfer window."
Barca's Yaya Toure has revealed he nearly moved to Highbury in 2005.
"I was disappointed and never understood why Wenger did not want to close the deal," the Ivorian told MARCA.
PIERS MORGAN gave Sol Campbell short thrift after his shock return to the club.
"Let's not kid ourselves here," wrote the Arsenal-supporting Morgan in his MAIL ON SUNDAY column.
"He was never 'one of us'. We didn't revere him like we revered Bergkamp, Henry, Vieira, Ljungberg, or even Lee Dixon. He was just that Spurs skipper who did the dirty on the old enemy and gave us all a good laugh."
Wojciech Szczesny has become a firm favourite during his brief loan spell at Brentford - and Griffin Park boss Andy Scott wants him to stay.
The 19 year old Arsenal goalkeeper has conceded just four times in seven games - keeping three clean sheets - and after the Bees' 3-1 win over Carlisle, Scott told the RICHMOND AND TWICKENHAM TIMES: ""Wojciech made some terrific saves. When he was called upon he showed his class.
"We've had dialogue with Arsenal. Arsenal need to know he has the right mentality and can do it on a Saturday in front of a crowd."
And a quick mention for INSIDEFUTBOL.COM, who his week named Francis Jeffers as Arsene Wenger's worst ever signing, solely for the Morrissey-esque description of the 'fox in the box' scouse flop as 'the loner in a coma' - pretty accurate for both his pathetic goal return - four in 22 - at Highbury, and his gradual unpopularity amongst fans and teammates.
