Arsenal are in line for an unexpected payday this week after former Gunner Fabrice Muamba's move from Birmingham to Bolton.

The England U-21 midfielder, who began his career at Highbury before moving to St Andrew's in 2006, was sold by relegated Birmingham for £5.5m to stabilise their finances after dropping down to the Championship.

But they will have to pass on approximately £1.65m to Arsenal as part of a sell-on clause believed to be around 30 per cent of any future transfer fee.

The Gunners start their league season with a home clash against newly-promoted West Brom at The Emirates on August 16. Arsene Wenger's side visit Fulham seven days later for their first away game.

Arsenal are due to entertain Manchester United on November 8, with the return on the penuiltimate weekend of the season. They finish with a home clash against Stoke.
