Arsene Wenger admitted he would have been interested in replacing Kevin Keegan as England manager - if he wasn't already in the Highbury hot-seat.

The Gunners boss, believed to be No1 choice at Lancaster Gate, said: "If I had no job I'd consider it because it is an attractive job. But I am not a candidate, I am committed to the players at Arsenal who I have brought to the club on the understanding I'm here until 2002."

Meanwhile, his Arsenal side defeated in-form Aston Villa 1-0 at Highbury, Thierry Henry netting a 61st minute winner.
