Tom Loizou’s team face a tricky test on Saturday against the Towners, who are second in the table

Haringey Borough make the short trip to Enfield Town on Saturday looking to improve their form in the Bostik Premier.

Tom Loizou’s men have had a fantastic season already with the club reaching the first round proper of the FA Cup and earning a shot at League One outfit AFC Wimbledon later this month.

Borough’s exploits in the famous, old competition have had a detrimental effect on their standing in the table, however, as they have dropped to 18th.

The Coles Park club have a number of games in hand over their rivals, but need to return to winning ways in the league after last triumphing in the Bostik Premier on September 29.

Since a terrific 1-0 win at Margate, Borough have lost to Harlow Town, Burgess Hill Town and Corinthian Casuals in the division.

On top of this, they exited the FA Trophy this week after a defeat to Chesham United in a replay on Tuesday night.

The first encounter at the weekend ended 1-1 after Lionel Stone’s opener for the hosts at Coles Park was cancelled out by Dave Pearce’s leveller.

In the first qualifying round replay on Tuesday night, the Generals secured a spot in the next phase with a 3-1 shoot-out victory after it had finished 2-2 following extra-time.

Femi Akinwande also received a red card for Borough to cap a bad night for Loizou’s men, but the north Londoners did show plenty of character in Buckinghamshire.

Chinedu McKenzie and Charley Barker netted for the visitors, the latter with a superb volley, as Haringey put up a strong fight, but in the end, they missed out on a trip to Worthing in the next round.

Borough have bigger fish to fry, but before they can focus on Wimbledon, they must face a side a little bit closer to home.

Loizou will take his team to the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium this weekend hoping to cause an upset.

The Towners are second in the table after 13 games, but Borough relish the tag of underdogs and will look to spring a surprise.
