Jayde Ellis-Pavlou took a wicket and hit the winning runs on her debut as Hampstead climbed to within 11 points of top spot with a convincing victory over Hemel Hempstead in Division A of the North London Women’s Cricket League.

Opting to field first, Hampstead’s bowlers stifled Hemel’s run-rate, with medium pacer Rachael Hewer (1-7) and left-arm quick Bex Hay (1-4) leading the way alongside Ellis-Pavlou (1-13) as Hemel were restricted to 53-6 off their allotted 30 overs.

Hampstead lost Sian Culley (0) and Angela Bonora (8) early in their reply but Lucy Horitz (14) and Harriet Millard (18 not out) batted sensibly, defending well against Lorett Brendenkamp (2-8) and Charlotte Smith (0-15) to close in on the target.

The task was completed in the 19th over when Ellis-Pavlou came to the crease and hit a four off her first ball to secure the victory and 18 points.
