Promoter Frank Warren hopes Dereck Chisora will give “the performance of his life” to beat US heavyweight Malik Scott next month.

Warren is keen for Chisora, who lives in Hampstead Garden Suburb, to get his career back on track after losses to David Haye and WBC champion Vitali Klitschko – and he feels that the home advantage at Wembley Arena can help his fighter to a famous win on July 20.

“Dereck’s got a really tough fight on his hands, it’s going to be a cracking bout,” said Warren. “He’s fighting at Wembley, just down the road from where he lives, so he’s on home turf.

“Hopefully that will give him a bit of inspiration and he can pull out the performance of his life.”

Philadelphian Scott is undefeated in 36 professional bouts, and Chisora seems to have a tough task.

“Scott’s won the junior Olympics, he’s undefeated,” said Warren.

“He’s had more fights than Dereck and he called the fight out – he said he’d come to fight him here.

“If Dereck wants to win a world title then these are the sort of guys he’s got to beat – and if he does beat this fella, it really puts him up there. But he’s got to beat him, that’s the tough part.

“Dereck is a warrior though, he loves to go into the lion’s den. He went to Germany [to fight Klitschko] and, as we all know, if you take away all that horrible stuff that went on outside the ring and just take the performance in the ring, it was as good as any British heavyweight’s display for the last few years – and he won the last round!”
