Cumberland’s ladies are closing in on their third Aegon Team Tennis national title in four years after reaching the final play-offs once again.

The women’s first team, who are based on Alvanley Gardens in Hampstead, beat Connaught Club to secure joint second place in the National South East Division, booking a place in the finals for the fourth successive season.

Having won the trophy in both 2013 and 2014, Cumberland fell short last year but will battle to retain their title on July 16.

Meanwhile, the men’s first team beat a full-strength Queen’s Club outfit 5-1 to secure promotion to the Team Tennis National Division, ensuring both teams will be competing in the top league in 2017.

The 18-and-under boys’ team were also victorious against Dukes Meadow and finished second overall in Premier South East Tier 1, which features some of the best Under-18 players in the country.
