My 10-wicket haul was surreal says Brondesbury’s Wilson

Brondesbury captain Adam Wilson admitted it was a strange feeling to take all 10 wickets in his side’s Middlesex League Premier Division win over North Middlesex.
Wilson chose to field first and it proved an inspired move as he ran through the visiting card to finish with 10-67 as they were dismissed for 159.
He said: “Saturday was a surreal day. It didn’t really sink in until that evening, when I had a moment to reflect and enjoy the congratulations that came from everyone who was kind enough to get in touch.
“It’s not really something you ever imagine happening, so to experience it was very special. It’s certainly something I’m extremely proud of and will never forget.
“It was only when I got to seven that I thought there was a chance it could happen. A few of the lads started mentioning the club record, but I was sure one of the boys would get a wicket or two at the other end.”
Although the other four bowlers used had no rewards in their combined 20 overs, Wilson paid tribute to their efforts, adding: “They bowled fantastically well to create pressure for me and backed it up brilliantly in the field, with a superb catch from Sasha Ward standing out.
“Celebrating the tenth wicket was unbelievable and a real treat to enjoy it with a group of players who have worked particularly hard over the course of the last three seasons.”
Finn Allen (59) and James Overy (49) led the way with the bat in reply, as the hosts sealed a six-wicket victory in the 43rd over.
And Wilson admitted it was a relief to celebrate a win, adding: “It was a good toss to win in terms of getting the best of the conditions, but the last fortnight has been a case of going back to basics.
“I hadn’t been bowling as consistently as I would have liked prior to the Hampstead game, but it seems that going back to bowling a good channel and being patient has done the trick.
“It came out nice from ball one and once I got a couple of early wickets, I knew it was important I took advantage and led from the front against a very strong team, setting us up for a massive win.”
